Last Edition

Last Edition are an “exciting sax-fuelled, ska punk quartet from Leicester”. Together for decade, Last Edition have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Reel Big Fish, Mad Caddies, Anti-Flag, Sonic Boom 6, Big D and the Kids Table to name just a few.

Heavily influenced by two-tone, and third-wave ska – Last Edition’s live set boasts a high-energy, hard-hitting ska punk sound that will leave you with a smile on your face.

In 2019, Last Edition’s long serving drummer Billy Johnson parted ways – with Danny Jones joining in April. A summer of shows, mostly with good friend’s Codename Colin on their album tour. Armed with a handful of new ideas, Last Edition head back into the studio late October to record a brand new EP, tentatively set for a December/January release.

2018 was a huge year for Last Edition – marking 10 years since their first ever gig. Last Edition crammed 9 festivals into a busy summer schedule, traveling as far as the Isle of Bute (Scotland) to join Mad Caddies at ButeFest and landing 2 slots at Silverstone Woodlands Campsite entertainers for the F1 Grand Prix and MotoGP, whilst also headlining Riverside Festival in Leicester in front of 400+ people.

To celebrate 10 years as a band, Last Edition threw an all-day ska punk fest including friends such as English Guns. Mr Wolf, Social Ignition, Fighting Evil is Cool!, Codename Colin and Matty’s former band, Accidental President. So, on Saturday 15th September, over 150 local ska punk fans bounced into Leicester’s Dryden Street Social to help celebrate 4 friend’s playing the music they love together, for over an entire decade.

On the run up to the 10 Year Anniversary gig, Last Edition hid away recording an EP to mark the occasion – rerecording 4 old songs, and a brand new song, aptly named: 10 Years. The “10 Years” EP was recorded and released alongside BubbleTea records, and available to listen to on Spotify, iTunes and other music outlets. Listen online for free, here:

Last Edition’s raised profile (thanks to the 2016 release of Best Foot Forward”) lead to consecutive appearances at both Illusive Festival, Boomtown Fair and Simon Says festival in Leicester. 2017 saw Last Edition local heat winners on Fireball’s “Fuelling the Fire” tour, which saw Last Edition support Anti-Flag, Mad Caddies and Reel Big Fish. Since then, Fireball and Last Edition have worked on a couple of events together, most successfully, Last Edition’s 2017 Christmas Shindig.

In December 2017, Last Edition played Fireball’s end-of-year “Hottest Band Showcase” at Sheffield o2 Academy, after narrowly missing out to Lost in Stereo for Fireball’s “Hottest Band” 2018.

Last Edition released their debut album, named “Best Foot Forward”. Best Foot Forward was toured around the UK, spanning 15 dates in a little over 4 weeks. Included in those 15 dates, was a slot at Simon Says Festival, Boomtown Festival.
